Job Description

Job Summary

Ensure the operation of all Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTD) targeting 99% availability. Ensure annual recertification of qualified FSTD, being the focal point for at least one device and supporting the compliance manager during authority audits.  From time to time managing projects within the FSTD maintenance domain.

Job Responsibilities

  • Accountable for ensuring a high level of quality and timely response for trouble-shooting   interventions following device failures or user found discrepancies
  • Act as Point of Contact (PoC) for at least one Full Flight Simulator, establishing a ‘driving force’ seeking to resolve all ongoing issues
  • Assist with procurement and management of FSTD spare parts
  • Preparation of Training Devices for customer specific operation following periods of maintenance
  • Promptly communicates to line management all matters for attention
  • Ensure training devices operate at the correct level required by the customer by effecting timely configuration changes and software updates
  • Liaise effectively and constructively  with FSTD Manufacturers, Suppliers and 3rd Parties
  • Ensures compliance with the Compliance Monitoring System at all times
  • Ensure the timely execution of tests and checks in pursuance of annual certification requirements and notify line management of failures or trending that may lead to failures in the future
  • Ensure clear and effective handovers routinely take place between shifts
  • Undertake supervisory, coaching and mentoring roles of junior team members, as required


  • Higher Educational Qualification in Electronic or Aeronautical Engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years continued and recent experience of FSTD operations and support
  • Experience of Authority FSTD Certification and Compliance Audits
