Job Description

What you will do:

  • Be a subject matter expert in data engineering and actively involve and/or lead architectural decisions across various systems through design, development, deployment and operation to ensure successes.
  • Work with leadership to build a technological / strategic partner ecosystem and develop a strategy for Johnson Controls to be a leader within the Smart Building space.
  • Be a thought leader in providing input in technology discussion for current and future products based on current product design/architecture and competitor technology adoption.
  • Design architecture and implementation plan to integrate “Snowflake” into analytics platform in OBEM.
  • Design algorithms to enhance the data processing speed.
  • Provide thought leadership in identifying key innovation and technology trends across the globe via partnership within or outside Johnson controls.
  • Drive sustainability and wellness innovation within and outside Johnson Controls, Inc Work with leadership to build a technological / strategic partner ecosystem and develop a strategy for Johnson Controls to be a leader within the Smart Building space.
  • Act as mentor & coach, design a training or seminar program to securely transfer knowledge and technical readiness within organization.
  • Work with commercial team to Identify potential partners and drive technical discussions.
  • Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events to promote Johnson Controls products and services
  • Organize workshops, webinars and trainings with key end users, consultants, and contractors
  • Lead architecture design and implementation of next generation BI solutions
  • Provide expert input on several initiatives underway in the organization
  • Defines infrastructure for design and integration of systems by analyzing information requirements; determining platform architecture, technology, and tools; studying business operations and user-interface requirements; directing development of physical database.
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques and algorithms to improve current solutions as well as develop cutting edge offerings/solutions.
  • Expert in the management, manipulation, and analysis of very large datasets.
  • Expert in big data/ advanced analytics concepts and algorithms
  • Lead and provide coaching to the data engineering team
  • Build and deliver high quality data architecture and pipelines to support business analyst, data scientists, and customer reporting needs.
  • Partner with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources
  • Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers


What we look for:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Experience in Smart Building Technology or BMS and HVAC domain 
  • Experience in working on containerized environments using Docker to make API layer cloud agnostic.
  • Experience in working on building streaming analytics framework using Kafka and Spark structured streaming to analyze data in real time.
  • Design architecture and implementation plan to integrate “Snowflake” into analytics platform in OBEM.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience engaging with senior stakeholders & managing team.
  • Well verse with different market research techniques. 
  • Experience in US and Singapore Patenting process. Ideal candidate will have at least 1 US or Singapore Patent on his name.
  • Significant experience in the building solutions industry, preferably in the role of designing and implementing solutions for Building Automation system.
  • Proven ability to translate customer requirements into actionable solutions for building Management system, building energy efficiency and navigation systems.
  • Subject Matter Expert in one building technology vertical.
  • Excellent knowledge of Spark, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, Machine learning, Streaming, EventHub, Kafka, Azure Functions, KSQL-DB, HBase, SQL server, Algorithms and data structures, Python, Java, and Scala programming languages etc.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills on all levels
