Job Description

The Operations Director will oversee all operations of the both Malaysia and Singapore plants including responsibility from production, CI to engineering maintenance in order to achieve business objectives. The Operations Director is responsible for ensuring consistency of approach in striving for world class manufacturing practices. Key areas of impact include:

• Development of high-performance team across Operations, Maintenance and Pre-Production Services

• Delivering lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement programs to reduce manufacturing cost and improve plant efficiencies

• Provide visible leadership in all aspect of the Amcor Way and lead the way in driving behaviour consistent with the Amcor Values of Safety, Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability, Results and Outperformance.

The role will be accountable for all aspects of the plant performance and will ensure that objectives are attained in a cost-effective manner that’s consistent with quality requirements and develops processes that will maximize stewardship, safety and productivity.


Key Accountabilities

· Commit to plant safety procedures and ensuring a Zero accidents/incidents workplace vision.

· Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations

· Implement and maintain necessary housekeeping standards in the plant to achieve 6S standard

· Develop and drive continuous improvement initiatives - driving efficiency and standardization across the group

· Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards

· Ensure that operational KPI’s are both established and managed

· Develop and facilitate leading practices in the areas of safety, environment, process, waste, quality, feedback and performance

· Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping. Ensure adherence to DIFOTIS targets

· Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results

· Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus

· Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions resulting from an Corrective Action or Quality issues

· Manage the cost lines of the business to ensure a lean and efficient organisation

· Share a trusting relationship with the team and recruit, manage and develop plant level employees

· Address employees’ issues or grievances

· Collect and analyze data specific to waste and labour management

· Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets

Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts. Participate in meeting related to safety, quality, productivity, innovation, supply management, HR and other delivery as required


Knowledge and Experience

· Minimum 10 years of plant operation with leadership experience

· Dynamic, possessing excellent communication and decision-making skills and an astute business acumen

· Sound leadership skills; the ability to lead, inspire and develop a team

· Expert knowledge of operations on plant level and relevant experience in Flexibles packaging is preferred

· Ability to motivate and work well with diverse, cross-functional teams

· Must have a broad understanding of key areas of Operational practice including but not limited to Lean and Six Sigma, GMP, Quality and quality related systems, labour management and resourcing, operational efficiencies and optimisation, cost and cost management

· Able to lead root cause analysis investigation

· Ability to take a strategic view and create a vision for what the operation can deliver whilst being able to adopt a hands-on approach where required

· English, Malay & Mandarin speaking
