Job Description


The successful applicant will be part of the team in IT Operation Division (ITO) to write scripts which will improve the productivity and efficiency of the infrastructure. The job scope encompasses the following:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operational aspects of database administration for business-critical systems, e.g. Perform database creation, patching, configuration, migration and version upgrades
  • Provide 1st and 2nd level operational database support, respond promptly to incidents, investigate and provide root cause and resolution for incidents
  • Lead and manage database changes through change request process & provide status reports to the relevant parties
  • Lead and measure the performance & availability of databases proactively; implement corrective actions identified to improve performance & availability
  • Lead and monitor the agreed service level, document & maintain the configuration of the databases; provide regular reporting to relevant parties
  • Lead in the implementation of service continuity measures, i.e., backup/restore procedures and disaster recovery plan, to ensure continuous operation of the business
  • Monitor databases, troubleshoot issues and handle incident escalations
  • Respond promptly to incident, investigate and provide temporary and/or permanent resolution of incidents escalated
  • Provide suggestions to enhance database operation support

  • At least 5 years’ experience in database administration / IT infrastructure and perhaps, more recently, modern cloud technology.

  • Experience of Oracle 12c/19c, MySQL, MSSQL

  • Experience in Linux/AIX platform and Windows

  • Database installations, backups, restores and replication.

  • Have experience in creating scripts to automate database jobs, in AIX, Linux and Windows

  • Have experience in performance tuning of databses

  • Knowledge of IT security and highly available, fault tolerant systems.

  • Must be organized, independent, flexible to work on different projects in a rapidly changing environment

  • Team player

  • Ability to work fast and meet short-term deadlines

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels with demonstrated ability to influence different stakeholders
