Job Description


The IT Infrastructure Division is responsible for the planning, evaluation, installation and operations of all the IT infrastructure services in MAS. These include servers running Windows, AIX and Linux, Enterprise Storage System, network, databases and software products from major vendors such as Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HDS and VMware. In addition, the division sets the technical architecture, recommends the hardware and software, conducts feasibility studies and evaluates tender proposals to support the organisation.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day systems operations of Critical Information Infrastructure, and ensuring that the systems comply with up-to-date security patches and baselines
  • Provide 1st and 2nd level operational AIX and Linux support, respond promptly to incidents, investigate and provide root cause and resolution for incidents
  • Liaise with project vendors and other MAS colleagues to plan and implement action plans for consistent or improved technical operations
  • Lead and measure the performance & availability of systems proactively; implement corrective actions identified to improve performance & availability
  • Conduct risk assessments to analyse risks and operational hazards when implementing changes to the system (patches or upgrades)
  • Oversee the implementation of technical procedures when performing system patches or upgrades
  • Conduct annual reviews and BCP drills for the system to determine operational and compliance health status
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of technical processes, functions and requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience in UNIX (AIX, RedHat) and its related middleware products (JBOSS, IBM WAS, IBM MQ), preferably with relevant training/certification

  • Understand the concepts of Virtual Servers, Logical Partitioning, System Backup and Recovery, Infrastructure security and monitoring tools

  • Familiar with basic shell scripting

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills with stakeholders across levels

  • Good vendor management skills, and knowledge of industry best practices

  • Certifications in ITIL and above Unix technologies will be an advantage
