Job Description

  1. Lead Singapore team of one of our agri commodity trading business unit for their full spectrum of accounting function. Major responsibilities will include:
  • Provide financial insights to management, review of identified and follow up of on-going issues
  • Supervise maintenance of correct and on time accounts in compliance with IFRS and Group accounting policies
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial, management and Group reporting
  • Prepare for statutory and internal audits and ensuring no lapses
  • Ensure statutory compliances in transfer pricing and its documentation
  • Implement strong internal controls and effective SOPs (including stocks, receivables, payables, cash at banks, procurement and sales recognition processes, accruals and prepaids etc)
  • Review exposures, trade and credit limits of counterparties and divisional companies
  • Review of insurance policy, coverage and adequacy
  • Ensure adherence to various accounting, reporting and legal frameworks
  • Involve in ad-hoc special projects including activities relating to business expansion & returns analysis, working capital efficiency analysis including inventory and receivables, overheads analysis etc
  • Review and follow up of any outstanding legal matters

2. Provide leadership to overseas’ accounts/finance managers and their teams. Major responsibilities will include:

  • Provide financial insights (including consolidated divisional accounts) to management, review of identified and follow up of on-going issues
  • Ensure statutory compliances in areas of direct and indirect taxation and transfer pricing
  • Implement strong internal controls and effective SOPs (including stocks, receivables, payables, cash at banks, procurement and sales recognition processes), to deter/detect fraud/fraudulent reporting
  • Implement ERPs/Accounting software/information systems in subsidiaries
  • Review of subsidiaries’ financial statements, statutory requirements, contracts and other documents
  • Ensure strong and timely HQ payment processing and approval function for subsidiaries
  • Review and follow up of any outstanding legal matters
  • Responsibilities other than accounts shall include designated activities (in coordination with Treasury team) in connection with banking, cash-flow projection & consolidation, forex exposures, financing initiatives etc,

Job Requirements:

  • Good leadership, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • ACCA / CA/ CPA and a good accounting degree
  • Minimum 7 to 9 years of relevant experience with 5 years in trading/commodity/processing industry
  • Conversant in accounting standards such as IFRS and company law
  • Exposure in implementation of ERPs and Accounting software
  • Detail oriented, hands on personality capable of working in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Proactive with strong reasoning skills and ability to deliver independently without much supervision
  • Willing to travel on short term basis as and when required including 5-6 weeks overseas camping at our subsidiary offices in Africa and India etc on need basis (only after 12 months training and exposure in Singapore and when the covid situation enables travelling)
  • Preference to candidates with:
  • working experience in large audit firms
  • work related travel experience to underdeveloped countries
