The Role Responsibilities

The role holder is accountable for delivery of a major programme in the Property domain . They play a key role in managing programme stakeholder relationships (including external vendors/ suppliers) and expectations as well as aligning the programme to the overall roadmap and strategy of the Bank.

Programme/ Project Delivery, Planning and Tracking

Delivers programme benefits defined by the business on time within budget (ideally over target or earlier) whilst adhering to organisational quality standards

Develops and maintains an integrated portfolio plan (consolidation of project plans and schedules).

Successfully manages programme scope through effective change control

Effectively manages dependencies and constraints across the projects, departments, regions and countries in the programme

Updates and reviews Lessons Learnt (both intra programme and organisational), both prior to and during each project and ensures that no previous mistakes are repeated

Ensure agile adoption within the programme and that projects aligns to the New Ways of Working, hereunder proper usage of tools such as Jira etc.

Communication/ Reporting

Produces programme/ portfolio summary packs and briefs senior management on the status of their investment in line with the programme governance model

Creates presentations and project execution documents, when required.

Financial Management

Manages programme budgets, identifies ways of driving down costs in order to control spending against the planned cost, analyses any variance and takes necessary corrective action to stay on Green status for Cost, provides timely forecasts and reporting as needed

Risk & Issue Management

Identifies, manages and mitigates risks that would impact the overall portfolio’s success, making and agreeing suitable mitigation trade offs as needed

Stakeholder Management

Ensures stakeholder satisfaction through effective communication and delivery of scope

Seeks to understand, prioritise and unite multiple stakeholder agendas with different and potentially conflicting objectives

Effectively negotiates contracts with external vendors, maximising value for the Bank

Serves a single point of contact for the Workplace programme and project escalation point when required

Programme/ Project Team Leadership

Creates strong credibility for self within the programme team based on respect

Creates a highly collaborative environment for working

Provides alignment for various country and business/ groups on the programmes strategic agenda

Anticipates possible conflicts and difficult interpersonal situations and takes steps to avoid them manifesting

Drives the adoption of new processes or techniques to manage project implementation

Demonstrates good technical and business expertise to manage projects effectively

Coach and upskill the project members in the programme where needed

Lead through example, building an appropriate (team) culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations with team and stakeholders, and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.

Employ, engage and retain high quality people (in line with the Technology location strategy) such that the team is skilled and experienced to deliver its obligations and to meet the challenges of the future.

Ensure that direct reports are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles and have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.

Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports, allocating appropriate responsibility, accountability and authority. Segregate duties to minimise operational risk or contravention of regulatory requirements. Provide feedback and rewards to direct reports in line with their performance against their responsibilities and objectives

Processes

Partnering with the Portfolio Manager, establish a portfolio view of work and resources for designated segment.

Ensure timesheets and status reports are submitted on time and to the requisite quality.

Manage the operational breakdown structure of the team to deliver efficient operational model and transparent and predictable financials.

Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employees form part of the culture.

Ensure compliance with all governance frameworks where there are direct touch points with them or any subsequent downstream influence from the T&I Team, including the Data Management Framework.

Ensure compliance with the highest standards of regulatory and business conduct and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements. This includes compliance with local banking laws and anti-money laundering regulations and guidelines.

Ensure timely escalation of issues to the Head, Technology.

Our Ideal Candidate

Knowledge & Skills

Relevant experience of atleast 10+ years in the Banking industry and a track record of success in Project & Programme management, SDLC and Agile (including Scrum).

Business Strategy and Model: awareness and understanding of the firm’s business strategy and model appropriate to the role.

Risk Management and Control: proven ability to identify, assess, monitor, control and mitigate risks. Also, an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the firm and the role the individual plays in managing them.

Governance, Oversight and Controls: Proven ability to prioritise an extensive and complex set of issues and manage a portfolio of complex, large scale programmes within a large, rapidly changing environment. Has a strong understanding of the operational environment, processes and controls needed to execute requirements. Has excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Pragmatic, customer-focused approach. Takes ownership to deliver, with a high level of flexibility and a preparedness to ‘roll up his/her sleeves’ when necessary to get the job done.

Strong influencing, negotiation and communication skills – oral, written and presentation.

A team player; multi-culturally aware with proven success working in global service delivery model, with onshore and offshore resources.

A proven ability to solve problems and make balanced judgments / decisions are essential to this role.
