Senior Underwriting Specialist

The Life and Health Operations (LHO) department plays a pivotal role in ensuring that we provide our customers with affordable and comprehensive life and health products. The Underwriting section provides prudent assessment of insurance applications and also offers necessary support to the sales channels.

As a Senior Underwriting Specialist, you will report to the Underwriting Manager. Your key responsibilities include:

• Assess and underwrite life and health insurance applications (new business and policy servicing) and decide if the risk can be accepted
• Provide service support and liaison for the sales channels
• Assist the sales channels on their queries related to underwriting requirements and underwriting decision
• Liaise with reinsurers on complex cases or refer cases to reinsurer if sum at risk exceeds treaty limits
• Check underwriting letters including special terms letters prior to release
• To be involved in adhoc duties or projects related to underwriting

Qualifications:

• At least a diploma or degree
• Degree in Insurance or Biomedical Science or Life Science would be an added advantage
• At least 5 years of experience in life and health underwriting
• Experience in Singapore life insurance market will be preferred
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Team player with good interpersonal skills
