Position Description

The Global Banking and Markets Technology & Enterprise Risk and Finance Technology (GBAMT & ERFT) Architecture Strategy group is responsible for the IT strategy and business alignment of the IT capabilities and Assets of the Wholesale Bank & Markets, Risk and Finance organization. It performs this role within the USA and Canada, Latin America (LATAM), Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia Region; supporting IT platforms for business clients worldwide.

This GBAMT & ERFT Architect role provides API driven integration solution and end to end (E2E) solutions architecture services and consulting within the Asia region to multiple lines of business and technology teams within the Asia Region. The role consists two parts of the responsibilities: API & Integration Architecture, and E2E Solution Architecture, which provides extended exposure to global integration strategy and regional solutions. As the Integration Architect, the role is responsible for architecting and designing integration solutions including API and ESB/Middleware based solutions that meet business requirements. As E2E solution architect, this role is responsible for partnering with key stakeholders (including domain and solution architects, technology partners, business analysts, project managers etc.) to create solutions that are aligned to the architecture strategy principles and standards, leveraging common solutions and services that meet the financial targets (cost and benefits).

Key Responsibilities

•Producing end-to-end conceptual, logical and physical architectures that meet strategic business, financial and technology objectives

•Execute API and Integration Strategy in the APAC region and create integration solutions for a given initiative with collaboration from domain architect, project solution architect and project stakeholders.

•Represent Integration Architecture in programs/initiatives.

•Provide Work Effort Sizing with project stakeholder and technology partner support.

•Technical leadership and exposure across a broad scale of tools, technologies, and architecture models

•Adhering to standards and moving toward a defined strategic business and technical architecture, laid out in Architecture frameworks and blueprints

•Development and updates of IT Strategies and Domain Blueprints as required by business and technology needs.

•Managing tradeoffs between speed to market, strategic architecture, quality, and financials

•Documenting systems, architecture, process flows and value-chains

•Oversight of the technical architecture specification to ensure traceability to the business solution drivers and strategic direction of the GTS business

•Adhering to the GBAMT & ERFT Architecture process and ensuring technology teams are aligned to the process

Key Requirements


•At least 3 years of REST API based integration solution design and ESB/Middleware based integration solution design experiences. Familiar with API Gateway and API security including OAuth2 related design.

•At least 2 years of MuleSoft Anypoint platform based API management, API design and implementation experiences.

•Familiar with RAML and OAS/Swagger, the industry common used API design.

•Familiar with JSON, XML, ISO20022, SWIFT MTs industry formats etc.

•Financial Services knowledge in Receivables and Payments such as Lockbox, workflow & document management, scanning & OCR, Payments (real-time, high/low value), Liquidity Management, FX,Operational Reporting, Credit, Trade Finance or Markets, and Core Banking Systems

•IT knowledge and experience in broader IT areas (Hardware, Networking, Middleware). Application development knowledge and experience (J2EE/C#, Design, Analysis).

•Interpret Business needs and apply innovative technology solutions with a view towards immediate implementation, target state and transitional road-maps, balancing Risk, Financial, Process and Resource factors.

•Translate complex concepts into multiple architectural “views” understandable by varying stake-holders, including process, operational, technical and cost views.

•Effectively communicate, interact with and influence technology teams, Business Partners, and Executives within Asia Pacific and other regional geographies using various mediums. Work effectively within a fast-paced, cohesive regional/global Architecture team and willing to learn fast and adapt quickly to change

•Resourceful and drives consensus for key architecture decisions, and influencing the positive outcome of conflicting objectives and priorities

•Strong, proactive leadership capabilities – inspiring fellowship, ability to stimulate and participate in creative thinking


•Financial Services knowledge in broader Corporate Banking and Treasury / Cash Management e.g. Liquidity Management and Deposits/client accounting as well as common IT functions such as Channels, Core Banking, Reporting and Master Data Management.

•Industry best practices in Architectural methodologies and standards (e.g., Zachman, TOGAF, CMM/I, Rational Unified Process, IEEE-1471, etc…)

•Knowledge/experience of common industry vendor products such as Infosys Finacle, Finastra TI Plus and Loan IQ.

•Governance and oversight processes for mitigating risk and managing change for global designs with regional implementations.

•Spring Boot/Java based API and microservices design experiences.
