Contract, Full Time
S$4500 - S$9000
The Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) is an institute of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). It has a global vision that seeks to use genomic sciences to improve public health and public prosperity. Established in 2001 as a centre for genomic discovery, the GIS will pursue the integration of technology, genetics and biology towards the goal of individualized medicine.
We are looking for talented computational scientists and computational biologists who are interested in analyzing big data. In collaboration with computational and biology groups, we develop new cutting edge high throughput sequencing strategies and generate novel datasets that aim to illuminate how RNA interacts with itself and with other RNAs in a genome-wide manner. The hired computational scientist will get to analyze these novel datasets first-hand, as well as to learn and explore new ways to interpret large datasets produced by high-end technologies. This work is highly interdisciplinary and benefits from extensive crosstalk between computational and experimental biologists.
- PhD in Science or related fields.
- Highly motivated and have good knowledge of at least one scripting language (Python or Perl).
About the institute:
The GIS is Singapore's flagship program for genomic sciences; it houses integrated teams of geneticists, computational biologists, developmental biologists and functional genomicists who use traditional and massively parallel technologies to address molecular questions of medical importance (http://www.gis.a-star.edu.sg/internet/site/).
Those interested to apply, please send your application including cover letter, CV and names of three referees. Please send your queries regarding the above position to email@example.com (lab website: http://www.ywanlab.com)
The above eligibility criteria are not exhaustive. A*STAR may include additional selection criteria based on its prevailing recruitment policies. These policies may be amended from time to time without notice. We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
