Job Description
The Principal Investigator I of Health Services Research Unit reports directly to the Director of the Unit with matrix reporting to the Senior Manager on operational matters. He/she is responsible for enabling health services research in SGH, which includes the following key responsibilities :
- Lead the design of health services, implementation and evaluation research projects and programs
- Apply for competitive health services research grants, especially in the core research areas of the hospital. As an academic partner for clinicians in SGH, the PI could be a Co-Investigator or Principal investigator on these grants.
- Publish peer-reviewed articles in the field of health services research as lead author and coauthor
- Communicate research findings to both stakeholders and in scientific meetings
- Support the development of early-career researchers in the hospital and junior staff in the department
- Assist the Director and Senior Manager of the department in strategic planning and engage in quality/process improvement initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned by the department
Job Requirements
- A doctoral degree in a quantitative science/social science such as epidemiology, statistics, and health economics.
- Good publication record in high-impact journals, with >=15 publications and >= 5 as the first or last author
- Substantial experience working independently and within a team as a scientific collaborator
- Experience in leading and/or contributing to research grant applications and having obtained grant funding
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills including a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet project deadlines
- Demonstrated experience in research project management, including budget management, supporting other members of staff and timely milestones delivery
- Highly motivated with a strong sense of responsibility and a service-oriented attitude
