Job Description

You will be leading or coordinating the management of hardware and system software infrastructure for the institution. You will provide an effective, reliable, high performing and scalable computing environment by working with users and other computational professionals in evaluating user requirements and in the deployment of computational resources. You will optimise and manage informatics pipelines for next generation sequencing (NGS) platforms (e.g. Illumina and others) and database maintenance. You will work with local diagnostic efforts in NGS to optimise gene coverage, mutation calling and workflows including QC/QA, as well as with local and international collaborators to develop patient- and cohort-specific reports for diagnostic and research use in high impact journals. The selected candidate will be offered employment on 1-year renewable contractual terms.     


  • Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or preferably in Bioinformatics and with more than 3 years of HPC or relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of Linux OS (Redhat or CentOS) and Linux cluster concept, and proficient in its operating system and hardware administration
  • Knowledge of HPC and system software such as cluster management/provisioning tools and job schedulers
  • Experience with NSG platforms, processing and interpretation of sequencing data
  • Familiarity with one or more of the technology fields in storage (FC, DAS, EMC Isilon), high speed interconnects and cluster file systems
  • Experience in relational database, coding and web development would be an advantage
  • A team player who is also a motivated self-starter, with good interpersonal and customer care skills
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills
