Job Description
Position Summary / Project Description
To lead and manage the team for the administration and maintenance of UNIX/Linux systems so as to provide the highest system availability, security and reliability possible
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage the UNIX team in the administration and maintenance of UNIX servers(AIX, Solaris & Linux), RedHat Virtualization and Ansible
· Provide strategic direction through setting goals and reviewing teams’ plans and progress
· Manage resources within the team to ensure that technical requests are effectively prioritized and handled
· Manage 24 by 7 operations to ensure highly available and secure systems to meet business objectives including providing technical leadership to critical problem solving, system tuning, automation and setting standards, best practices and procedures
· Ensure proper governance and control processes, including ITIL processes, are adhered to achieve corporate objectives, including performance and capacity, incident, problem and continuous improvement management
· Lead the team in reviewing change requests and provide recommendations to minimize operation risks
· Lead the team in managing vendor contracts, budgets and product upgrades, technical upgrades, patches, hardening, vendor product support tickets, enhancement requests and recommendations for continual service improvements
· Lead the team in keeping abreast of new technologies and its applicability to their area of work
· Drive effective performance management practices and develop staff through ongoing coaching, mentoring and career discussions
Requirements / Qualifications
· Degree in Computer Engineering / Electrical and Electronic engineering or equivalent degree,
· Strong technical knowledge and experience in administration and maintenance of Unix (AIX, Solaris, Linux(RedHat Linux/SUSE/CentOS) including:
- Clustering (HACMP/Solaris Cluster/ RedHat Cluster)
- RedHat Virtualization/ CloudForm, Ansible
- Storage Admin/SAN technology, in particular, from System perspective (AIX LVM/JFS, Solaris UFS/ZFS, RedHat Linux XFS, HDS including connectivity and data replication)
- System and network security, including use of RBAC
- SSH/SFTP/SSL
- Centralized Backup software (Veritas Netbackup)
- DR implementation
- OS patching/upgrades/hardening
- Automation through Ansible, Shell Scripting (Unix shell), Python and/or Ruby will be an added advantage
· Certifications in the above administration skills will be an added advantage
· Ability to prioritize assignments while working on multiple projects
· Good security, audit, compliance and financial management knowledge
· Good leadership, people management, interpersonal, communications and presentation skills (verbal/written)
· Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with attention to details
Experience :
· At least 10 years’ experience in the administration of Unix (AIX/Solaris) / Linux Servers, of which 5 years are in leading and managing role
· Working experience in most of the technical areas described above, if not all, is required
· Experience in troubleshooting complex issues quickly and efficiently
· Experience in project management, design and deployment of IT infrastructure solution will be an added advantage
